Meet Our Doctors
A. Gerald Michels, D.D.S
I approach my patients the same way I try to live my life, "Do unto others as you
would
have them do unto you." At Woodside Dental Care we treat all our patients as if they were
family. We do our very best to provide them with the latest and best forms of
treatment, at a fee that is affordable.
I graduated from the University of Southern California Dental School in 1967 and have over 40 years of dental experience. When I was just out of school I worked for other dentists and experienced the good, and the not so good sides of dentistry.
I have been married (to the same woman) for over 40 years and we have 8 children - 7 sons and 1 daughter. We currently have 12 grand-children, and expect more soon. I have numerous hobbies, but the focus of my life is my family.
Dr. Riahi, D.D.S.
I believe the single most important attribute in a dentist is the ability to create an environment in which the patient is relaxed and comfortable. This can be achieved by thoroughly listening to the patient, understanding his/her needs, and genuinely sympathizing with the patient's past experiences as related to dentistry. I pride myself in being an empathetic listener who truly understands the needs of my patients.
I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2002. From the beginning, I surrounded myself with caring and dedicated mentors whose mission was to provide the utmost care and quality dentistry to their patients. Consequently, I have adopted those same attributes and have fully and successfully utilized them in my career.
In an effort to provide my patients with the latest and most advanced techniques in dentistry, I have attended numerous continuing education courses over the past years. Among my certifications are, 6 Month Smile, the latest and the most predictable method of straightening teeth in about 6 months, and oral conscious sedation, a safe and effective method of providing all facets of dentistry for the anxious patient. I am also a member of the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association.
I have been married for 11 years. When I'm not busy playing with and running after my 4-year-old son, I run, mountain bike and play tennis.
Dr. Bahareh Safaie, D.D.S
I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA where I earned a BS degree in Psychobiology along with a minor in Education. I then received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry. In addition to working at Woodside, I am currently teaching part-time as a clinical instructor in the Division of Restorative Dentistry at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
I have certifications in both Invisalign therapy and dental implants, and am an active member of several dental organizations (such as the ADA, CDA, and AGD). I am also highly active in providing dental services at various low-income clinics such as the Venice Dental Center, Inglewood Children's Dental Center, UCLA Mobile Clinic, and the San Fernando Mission Dental Clinic. I was awarded the UCLA Chancellor's Service award in 2003 in honor of my dedication to community service.
I have authored several journal publications, including a medical article in which I was first author, and am currently working on publishing a report on the clinical advantages of dental implants.
When I am not teaching or practicing my passion of cosmetic and implant dentistry, you can invariably find me spending time with my family and close friends. I am also an avid writer and love to read fiction novels.
DR. ARMEN S. MEGERDICHIAN
Dr. Megerdichian is committed to excellence and he is dedicated to giving exceptional service to patients.
A graduate of UCLA School of Dentistry, he comes from a family of dentists that include his father and grandfather. A true believer in continuing education, he furthers his practice with training on the latest equipment & advanced courses in dental techniques. He was a Clinical Instructor at UCLA School of Dentistry for 6 years in the Center for Esthetic Dentistry and Endodontics Department. He specializes in Full Mouth Reconstruction, Aesthetic restoration, Complete Smile Makeovers, IMPLANTS, I.V. Sedation, and Cosmetic Restorations. Dr. Megerdichian has also received his training from the world's most prominent Sedation Dental Specialists. His caring and gentle nature has made it easy for patients to relax during dental treatments. He has completed extensive training in Advanced Implant and Bone Placement, and received his Fellowship award from esteemed International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has completed hundreds of hours in continuing dental education and hands-on workshops. He also believes in giving back to the community, spending much of his summer vacations doing dental work for the poor and orphaned children here and in other countries. Dr. Megerdichian has helped many patients achieve their dream smiles and other exceptional results through dental treatments.
